Netflix has revealed in a recent regulatory filing that it spent $587 million in cash to acquire InterPositive, an artificial intelligence startup co-founded by actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck, according to Tech Crunch.
The streaming giant first announced the deal in March, though it withheld financial details at the time. Prior reports had estimated the transaction could reach up to $600 million. Under the terms of the agreement, the full InterPositive team has integrated into Netflix’s operations, while Affleck has stepped into a role as a senior advisor to the company.

InterPositive develops artificial intelligence tools designed to assist filmmakers during post-production. The technology focuses on addressing common logistical challenges on set, such as generating missing camera shots, swapping out backgrounds, and correcting lighting flaws after filming concludes. Affleck previously noted that the technology aims to support and enhance human creativity rather than replace it.
The acquisition highlights Netflix’s expanding integration of emerging technology within its content pipeline. In its latest quarterly financial report, the streaming platform disclosed that approximately 300 of its original titles have already utilized generative AI tools in their production processes.
