This was the second consecutive final for the South African club and the third for the Portuguese manager who, in the 2023/24 season, lost the trophy to Al-Ahly while commanding Espérance de Tunis. To reach this stage, the team overcame several difficult continental opponents, solidifying their tactical dominance in African football throughout the entire campaign under the guidance of the Portuguese staff.
This triumph represents a historical milestone for South African football, cementing Mamelodi Sundowns as one of the absolute giants of the continent.
