Singer David Burke, the alt-pop artist professionally known as D4vd, is facing severe legal jeopardy following his recent arrest in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
As he prepares for upcoming court proceedings, his legal defense team sought permission for him to appear in civilian clothing, specifically requesting dress pants and a button-down shirt. However, the presiding judge rejected the request, meaning the 21-year-old musician will remain in standard jail attire for his appearances.
While the request for specific court attire was denied, Burke did secure a minor concession from L.A. County Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo.

The judge signed an order on Monday authorizing the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department to provide Burke with a haircut prior to his scheduled May 1 preliminary hearing. This legal maneuvering takes place as Burke sits in custody without bail, navigating the early stages of a high-stakes criminal trial.
The charges against Burke are extensive and grave, following a months-long investigation after Rivas Hernandez’s remains were discovered last year in a vehicle registered to the singer.
Formal charges against him include first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and the unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors allege he murdered the teenager to conceal their relationship and protect his professional music career.

Burke has entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. As the case moves forward, the defense team is pushing for an expedited presentation of evidence to challenge the prosecution’s claims.
If he is convicted, the artist could face life imprisonment or potentially the death penalty, marking a stark end to the career of a performer who once enjoyed viral success on TikTok and major streaming platforms.
