The Macau Special Administrative Region’s Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organized a business delegation comprising approximately 120 representatives from the public and private sectors of Mainland China and Macao-Hengqin to accompany the Macao SAR Government’s official visit to Portugal and Spain from April 19 to 24.
During the trip, participants will take part in a schedule of activities that includes exhibitions, exchange receptions, promotional sessions, and visits to 16 entities linked to strategic sectors, such as technology and “big health.” The initiative aims to strengthen Macau’s role as a bridge between China and Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking markets, promoting cross-border investment and the coordinated development of industrial chains.
The delegation includes companies from various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, finance, technology, trade, tourism, logistics, construction, e-commerce, and professional services. Companies in the technology and “big health” sectors account for about 40% of the total, including leading groups, publicly traded companies, and firms ranked among China’s largest.
For the first time, the Center for Economic and Commercial Services between China and Portuguese- and Spanish-Speaking Countries (CECPS) is participating in the initiative, mobilizing companies to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation with Portuguese-speaking markets.

As part of the visit, IPIM will organize two economic and trade promotion sessions, with the participation of approximately 240 local representatives from Portugal and Spain. During these sessions, the advantages of the “Macau + Hengqin” model will be presented, including investment support policies—such as the Macau Science and Technology Research and Development Industrial Park—and public financing instruments.
The initiatives also include protocol signing ceremonies and business meetings, aimed at facilitating partnerships and accelerating the implementation of investment projects, particularly in the technology and integrated healthcare sectors.
To reinforce the use of Macau as a Sino-Portuguese-speaking platform, a session dedicated to local professional services will also be held, highlighting areas such as finance, law, arbitration, and business consulting, and encouraging companies from Mainland China and Hengqin to explore these capabilities.
In parallel, IPIM will set up an exhibition space at the “Sentir Macau Roadshow in Madrid” initiative, featuring a booth equipped with multimedia solutions that provide integrated information on business opportunities in Macau and Hengqin. The initiative aims to attract international investors and consolidate Macau’s position as a bridge between China and global markets, promoting the joint development of the conventions and exhibitions, tourism, and investment sectors.
