Sporting was eliminated today in the quarterfinals of the Champions League after a 0-0 draw against England’s Arsenal in the second-leg match in London, missing out on an unprecedented spot in the semifinals.
Following a 1-0 defeat in Lisbon in the first leg—decided by a goal from Germany’s Kai Havertz in the 90+1 minute—the “Lions” needed an away victory to advance but could not manage more than a stalemate during their visit to the English Premier League leaders.
