Sporting CP suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal FC in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, leaving the Portuguese champions with a difficult task to reach the semi-finals.
The match, played at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, was decided in stoppage time when German substitute Kai Havertz scored in the 90+1 minute for the Premier League leaders.

The result marks Sporting’s first home defeat in this season’s Champions League, after previously winning all five matches at Alvalade.
The second leg is scheduled for April 15 in London, where Arsenal will look to defend their advantage. The winner of the tie will face either FC Barcelona or Atlético de Madrid in the semi-finals.
