South Korea defeated the Czech Republic 2-1 today in a come-from-behind victory during the second match of the opening round for Group A of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held in Zapopan, Mexico.
The European side struck first in the 59th minute when Ladislav Krejci scored with a header following a long throw-in. However, the Asian team successfully inverted the scoreline with a clinical equalizer from Hwang In-beom in the 67th minute, followed by a decisive strike from substitute Oh Hyeon-gyu in the 80th minute.

With this vital result, the South Koreans have equaled the three points accumulated by tournament co-hosts Mexico, who previously secured a 2-0 victory against South Africa during the opening match of the competition in Mexico City.
