At least 500 homes are at risk of collapsing due to severe erosion in Pemba, northern Mozambique, prompting authorities to prepare the urgent relocation of affected families to safer areas.

The risk is driven by intensified rains, which have caused soil instability in multiple neighborhoods across the municipality. Families are expected to be moved to prepared centers in Ntocota and Naminawe, in the Metuge district, where facilities can accommodate the displaced population.

Local teams are actively mobilizing communities to evacuate areas deemed highly dangerous.
