Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court has authorized 90 days of house arrest for former president Jair Bolsonaro, who was sentenced to more than 27 years in prison.
“After this period, the presence of the necessary requirements to maintain humanitarian house arrest will be reassessed, including medical evaluation if necessary,” reads the decision by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who followed the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office after several appeals from the former president’s defense.

Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro left the intensive care unit on Monday night and was transferred to a hospital room in Brasília, where he has been hospitalized since March 13 after suffering pneumonia caused by aspiration while sleeping in his cell at the Papuda military prison.
