US president Donald Trump today said the United States “no longer needs” the support of NATO allies for the military operation in the Strait of Hormuz, after several countries refused to cooperate.
“The United States has been informed by most of our NATO ‘allies’ that they do not want to get involved in our military operation against the Iranian terrorist regime,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He added that Washington is now doing without that support, saying it “no longer needs or wants the help of NATO countries.” “We never needed it,” Trump stressed, also naming Japan, Australia and South Korea as countries that rejected the request for involvement.

The refusal of multiple international partners to join the operation highlights deepening divisions within Western alliances over how to respond to the conflict with Tehran.
