Less than two weeks before the next Oscars ceremony, Timothée Chalamet is at the centre of a major controversy. In a joint interview with fellow actor Matthew McConaughey for Variety magazine, the American actor — nominated for best actor for his performance in “Marty Supreme” — said that “nobody cares” about opera and ballet.

“I don’t want to work in ballet or opera, things that need people to say ‘hey, keep this alive,’ even though nobody cares about it anymore. With all due respect to the professionals in both fields,” he said.
