During his visit to South Korea, Lula also questioned the shift toward restrictive policies in the global economy, stating that a return to protectionism “has no justification.”

“The best response to attempts to use trade as a weapon is to show that it is possible to reach mutually beneficial agreements through dialogue and negotiation,” said the Brazilian head of state during the closing ceremony of the Brazil-South Korea Business Forum in Seoul.

Lula also questioned the shift toward restrictive policies in the global economy, stating that the return to protectionism “has no justification,” without directly referring to U.S. President Donald Trump.

“A country’s resilience, especially in times of global turmoil and the return of protectionism, depends on the diversification of its economic base and its trade relations,” he said.
