Data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed the average rent per square metre of usable area for residential units climbed 2.1 percent year-on-year to MOP139 (14.50 euros) in 2025. Coloane led gains with a 3.5 percent increase to MOP152, while ZAPE (MOP120) and Baixa da Taipa (MOP140) also rose 3.5 percent.
By contrast, Fai Chi Kei (MOP143) and Barra (MOP120) slipped slightly. Shop rents averaged MOP469, down 1.7 percent overall. District-level figures diverged: ZAPE (MOP698) and Baixa de Macau (MOP654) rose 4.2 percent and 2.3 percent respectively, while Horta e Costa & Ouvidor Arriaga (MOP454) and Barra & Manduco (MOP288) fell 6.9 percent and 2.4 percent.
Office rents dropped 4.8 percent to MOP281, and industrial units fell 2.3 percent to MOP120. By apartment size, units between 50 and 99.9 square metres averaged MOP138, up 2.4 percent, while those under 50 square metres edged up 0.1 percent to MOP168.
In the fourth quarter, residential rents held steady at MOP140 per square metre. Shop rents (MOP472), office units (MOP278) and industrial units (MOP119) all eased slightly compared with the previous quarter.
Rental statistics are compiled from property tax declarations filed with the Financial Services Bureau, excluding government- and charity-owned units.
