China issues Japan travel warning

The Chinese Consulate General in Osaka urged citizens last Sunday to avoid traveling to Japan, following a knife attack in the Dotonbori tourist district that left one dead and two injured

“Given the frequent occurrence of vicious cases, we remind Chinese citizens to avoid traveling to Japan in the near future,” the consulate stated, according to Xinhua.

In addition to warning tourists, the mission advised Chinese residents living in the area to remain vigilant and closely monitor local security updates.

The travel warning, issued before the Spring Festival holiday, cites an “unstable security environment” and a recent rise in violent crime across the region as key concerns.
