Bian, who took office last week, expressed her gratitude to Ho for his longstanding support of Macau’s diplomatic efforts. This meeting followed Bian’s visit to Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai earlier in the week.
Appointed by the Central People’s Government on January 23, Bian succeeds Liu Xianfa, who completed his five-year tenure and has now become the special representative for African affairs.
During their discussion, Bian highlighted the significance of her new role, acknowledging the responsibilities it entails. She affirmed the commissioner’s office’s commitment to safeguarding national interests and supporting Macau in enhancing its international relationships, all while promoting the principles of “One Country, Two Systems.” The commissioner’s office operates alongside the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government and the local PLA garrison.
