
Sands China Ltd. and Asia Sports Development Ltd. are bringing back to Macao the “Sands China Asian Youth Elite Fencing League – Macao,” Dec. 26-28 at Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao. This premier stage for Asia’s young fencing talent is helping cultivate the next generation of fencers and is part of Sands China’s continued support of Macao’s vision to become a City of Sports.
The Sands China Asian Youth Elite Fencing League – Macao returns for its second consecutive year, reinforcing Macao’s positioning as a City of Sports.
Organized by Sands China and Asia Sports Development Ltd., the three-day competition at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo represents a significant milestone in Asian youth fencing development.
Building on last year’s success, which attracted over 3,200 spectators, the 2025 edition expands considerably with new competitive categories.
The tournament now includes individual events for the U6 age group and team events for U8 and U12 categories, encouraging broader participation across age divisions.
A record 1,200 elite youth fencers will compete, coming from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

The Sands China Asian Youth Elite Fencing League competition made its Macao debut last year, attracting over 3,200 spectators. This year, the competition further expands its scale with new categories, including individual events for the U6 age group and team events for the U8 and U12 age groups. These additions encourage broader participation and foster technical exchange among young fencers.
The competition utilizes international-standard pistes certified by the International Fencing Federation (FIE), with FIE-certified referees officiating and video refereeing systems deployed during elimination rounds.
To sustain the excitement and promote sports participation, a variety of extended activities will be held during the league event, including:
- “Sands Cares Presents: Community Sharing by Champion Fencers – Lei Sheng & Deng Xiaohao”
Dec. 27, 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Lei Sheng, men’s foil gold medallist at the London 2012 Olympics, and Deng Xiaohao, double gold medallist in men’s sabre (individual and team) at the 2021 National Games, will share championship insights and professional techniques to elevate fencing standards in Macao.

Prior to the main event, the “2025 Sands China Future Champions Fencing Camp” runs December 21-25, featuring world-class coaching from five-time Olympic gold medal coaches Stefano Cerioni and Giovanni Bortolaso, Paris Olympics silver medallist Yoon Jisu, London Olympics gold medallist Oh Eun Seok, and Han Won Lee, head coach of the Dong-Eui University Fencing Team.
