After the Portugal captain sat out Al Nassr’s last Saudi league match against Al Hilal, coached by Jorge Jesus and featuring João Félix, as a form of protest against the PIF’s management — which controls his club as well as Al Hilal, Al Ittihad and Al Ahli — the boycott is also expected to include Friday’s game against Al Ittihad, coached by Sérgio Conceição and featuring Danilo Pereira and Roger Fernandes.
Ronaldo is reported to have gone on strike after concluding that the PIF’s recent decisions have favoured Al Hilal, which recently signed Karim Benzema following his contract termination with Al Ittihad. Speaking on Thursday about the situation, a spokesperson for the Saudi league issued a warning to the Portuguese star on the same day he turned 41.
