The announcement was published on Monday, October 13th, in the Official Gazette, following an order issued by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture.

The latest additions encompass local land rituals, the dragon and lion dances, Portuguese folk dance, Lunar New Year celebrations, the Dragon Boat Festival and races, Tai Chi, as well as traditional pastry-making crafts — notably the Portuguese egg tart, almond cookies, wedding pastries, and bamboo noodles.

Under Macau’s Cultural Heritage Protection Law, intangible cultural heritage is preserved through both a “preliminary list” and an official “heritage register.” With the latest update taking effect on October 14th, Macau will feature 58 items on the preliminary list and 24 officially inscribed on the heritage register.
