In a statement, the DICJ said the closure was conducted “in accordance with established procedures” and with “close coordination among multiple government departments” to ensure legal compliance. The bureau noted that the process was carried out in an orderly manner, including the removal of gaming equipment and the completion of related formalities.
The closure of Mocha Kuong Fat follows Melco’s June announcement that it would wind down three of its Mocha-branded slot parlours before the end of 2025. Earlier this week, the company also shuttered the Grand Dragon Casino, a satellite property located in Taipa.
Melco has stated that electronic gaming machines from the closed Mocha Clubs will be reallocated to its main casino properties—Altira Macau in Taipa, and City of Dreams and Studio City in Cotai—subject to approval by the DICJ.
The regulator emphasized that it will continue refining its oversight mechanisms, with the aim of promoting a “healthy and orderly” development of the city’s gaming industry while supporting Macau’s broader goal of moderate economic diversification.
