The Macao Government Tourism Office has been carrying out a series of measures to help restore the normal operation of the tourism sector after Typhoon Tapah. These include sending typhoon-related updates to visitors and residents via telecom companies, providing constant weather information on its official website and social media platforms, and resuming the operation of Tourist Information Counters, with the exception of the Ritz Building counter.
MGTO staff have also been dispatched to inspect hotels, border checkpoints and tourist sites to assess the recovery situation. In addition, three information counters and souvenir exchange points under the “POP MART MACAO TOUR” program — located at Luís de Camões Square, St. Augustine’s Square and the Leisure Area of Rua do Pai Kok in Taipa — have already resumed service.
The Tourism Hotline (+853 2833 3000) remains available 24 hours a day and has so far received 58 enquiries, mainly concerning transportation measures, border entry and exit arrangements, shelter centers, border checkpoint operations, weather conditions and tourism information. MGTO emphasized that it remains in close contact with Macao’s tourism industry, gathering feedback and refining contingency plans and improvement measures to better respond to adverse weather.
