Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau released new data showing that gross gaming revenue for August 2025 reached MOP22.16 billion (US$2.77 billion), an increase of 12.2% from the same month last year. This marks several consecutive months of new post-pandemic highs for single-month revenue. Compared to July of this year, revenue also saw a slight increase of 0.14%, reflecting the industry’s steady and sustained recovery.
For the first eight months of the year, cumulative gaming revenue was MOP163.05 billion ($20.38 billion), up 7.2% from the same period last year. While this figure remains 17.7% lower than the same period in 2019, the recovery trend is stable. Since May, Macau’s gaming industry has moved past its lower-than-expected start to the year, experiencing significant growth driven primarily by the increase in summer holiday visitors.
Analysts note that despite the impact of a typhoon in August, gaming demand remained strong, indicating a solid market foundation. So far this year, there have been four months with revenue exceeding the MOP20 billion level, and the industry’s performance continues to outperform expectations. Analysts are generally optimistic that double-digit growth can be maintained for the remainder of 2025.
