On August 2nd and 3rd, an inter-departmental task force, including representatives from the Labour Affairs Bureau, Health Bureau, and Public Works Bureau, conducted chemical mosquito extermination and inspections at all construction sites in the area.

Authorities reported that contractors are actively cooperating and implementing required preventive measures, such as monitoring workers’ temperatures, performing chemical mosquito extermination, draining stagnant water, and clearing garbage.

In a related development, Foshan city in Guangdong reported 216 new confirmed chikungunya cases on Sunday, August 3rd. The cases were distributed across several districts: 158 in Shunde, 31 in Chancheng, 25 in Nanhai, and two in Sanshui. To manage the outbreak, authorities have introduced real-name registration for all medications used to treat chikungunya symptoms. For individuals unable to use smartphones, family members or pharmacy staff are assisting with the registration process.
