All seven people, who were between 19 and 20-years of age, in the car were taken to the hospital. Four of them later died from their injuries, including a 19-year-old female resident driver ins and three male passengers. The other four are still receiving medical treatment. One of the deceased was a Cheng Fung and Macau SAR football player.
According to a preliminary police investigation, the car left a parking space on Rua de Bruxelas, traveled along Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen and a flyover, and then entered Avenida da Amizade. It suddenly lost control and veered left at the accident site.
The police have not ruled out the possibility of the car being overloaded. According to photos of the site, the car has a capacity for five people, including the driver. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. A search of the scene has been completed, and authorities are appealing for witnesses to call the Traffic Department at 2837 4214 with any information.
