Total cross-border entries and exits nationwide reached 333 million, a 15.8 percent increase year-on-year. Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan residents accounted for 136 million entries and exits to and from the mainland, making up approximately 40 percent of the total, a 12.2 percent rise from the previous year.
Mainland residents’ entries and exits totaled 159 million, while foreign nationals accounted for 38.05 million, marking increases of 15.9 percent and 30.2 percent, respectively.
In the first half of the year, immigration authorities inspected 17.79 million cross-border transport vehicles, including 485,000 aircraft, 53,000 trains, 219,000 vessels, and 17.03 million motor vehicles, representing an overall increase of 15.4 percent year-on-year.
During the same period, 10.64 million ordinary passports were issued, along with 47.45 million permits and endorsements for mainland residents traveling to Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Additionally, 1.16 million travel permits for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan residents entering the mainland and 887,000 visas and documents for foreign nationals were issued.
The NIA’s government services platform provided 89.87 million inquiry and other services, and conducted 30.59 million free identity verifications for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan residents, overseas Chinese, and foreign nationals. The 12367 service platform received 3.51 million consultations from over 100 countries worldwide, achieving a satisfaction rate of 99.55 percent.
Authorities continued to promote institutional opening-up, implementing visa-free entry for ASEAN tour groups entering Yunnan and adding Indonesia as a transit visa-free country. They also optimized support services for foreign nationals regarding payments and accommodation. In the first half of the year, 13.64 million foreign nationals entered China visa-free, accounting for 71.2 percent of all foreign entries and showing a significant 53.9 percent year-on-year increase.
New policies have been officially implemented, including “one visit per week” for Zhuhai household residents traveling to Macau and “multiple entries visa” for residents of the Hengqin. Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan residents facing urgent travel needs within the mainland can now apply for temporary travel permits and apply for “dual-certificate linkage” verification. Additionally, processing fees have been reduced for first-time Taiwanese applicants to facilitate cross-strait integration and development.
