More than 300 Sands China team members, elderly volunteers from Caritas Macau and students from the Macau Polytechnic University gather at Cotai Expo to assemble 3,000 food kits Wednesday for Caritas Macau in the Sands Cares Food Kit Build, a global volunteer initiative of Sands Cares.
Annual Food Kit Build & Volunteer Collaboration
On June 25, The Venetian Macao hosted the fourth Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build, where more than 300 volunteers—including Sands Cares Ambassadors, Caritas Macau’s “Longevity” Special Care Centre members, and students from Macau Polytechnic University—assembled 3,000 food kits to support local populations in need.
Locally Sourced Kit Contents
Each kit contains 16 essentials, such as soup pack, biscuits, cooking oil, rice, oatmeal, noodles, and canned goods—sourced from local SMEs and charities. Notably, soup packs were purchased from Tung Sin Tong and reusable kit bags from Fuhong Society of Macau.
With a total weight of 30 tons, these kits will be distributed by Sands Cares Ambassadors and Caritas Macau to elderly residents, persons with disabilities, low-income families, and food bank recipients.
Volunteer Recognition & Community Impact
To honor their contribution, Sands China presented Volunteer Service Certificates to the elderly volunteers and MPU students, encouraging wider public engagement in community service.
Since 2022, Sands Cares has built 11,600 food kits, demonstrating tangible corporate social responsibility and delivering warmth across the Macao community.
Leadership Reflections
Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd., highlighted that when team members volunteer personal time, “the Sands Cares concept turns into tangible warmth, injecting positive energy into the Macao community.” He expressed gratitude to community partners for their collaboration in making a meaningful impact.
Paul Pun Chi Meng, Secretary-General of Caritas Macau, emphasized that the donation of 3,000 kits not only provides material support but also manifests societal care for vulnerable groups. He noted that the long-term partnership between Sands China and Caritas Macau underscores the power of corporate–social welfare collaboration in building a caring community.
Global Sands Cares Initiatives
The Food Kit Build is one of three global Sands Cares programmes—alongside the Global Hygiene Kit Build with Clean the World and the Sands Cares Accelerator.
Together, these initiatives address priorities such as hardship relief, disaster response, education, heritage preservation, and local non-profit development, uniting Sands properties worldwide in community impact.
