VIP gaming revenue in Q1 accounting for 39 pct of 2019 levels

Gaming revenue generated by VIP baccarat in the first quarter of 2025 accounted for 38.9 per cent of the levels recorded in the same quarter of pre-pandemic 2019, fresh figures from the city’s casino regulator indicate.

Gross gaming revenue from VIP baccarat tables reached MOP 14.46 billion (USD 1.81 billion) in the three-month period ending 31 March this year, slightly up from the MOP 14.38 billion (USD 1.80 billion) recorded in the same quarter last year, according to data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).

However, compared with the first quarter of 2019—the last full pre-Covid year and before the 2021 crackdown on junket operators—it represents less than 40 per cent of the MOP 37.20 billion (USD 4.65 billion) posted back then.

In contrast, mass market revenue was 11 per cent higher than in the first quarter of 2019, reaching MOP 43.36 billion (USD 5.42 billion).
