“What the US needs to do now is correct its wrong practices and resolve economic and trade differences with other countries — including China — through fair, respectful and reciprocal consultations,” foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said.
China on Thursday said it was “maintaining communication” with the United States over economic and trade issues after Washington announced swingeing new tariffs.
“The trade and economic departments of China and the United States have been maintaining communication,” commerce ministry spokesman He Yadong said, adding Beijing “is willing to engage with the United States on important issues in bilateral trade”.
