Sands China has furthered its longstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility by donating MOP 1 million to five local nongovernmental organisations.
This donation, presented at a ceremony on March 3 at The Venetian Macao, supports responsible gaming promotions and the developmental efforts of the beneficiary organisations.
With donations totaling over MOP 8.9 million since 2006, this annual practice aligns with the Macao government’s responsible gaming policies and promotes sustainable development within the gaming industry and the local community.
During the cheque presentation, Andy Kobel, Senior Vice President of Casino Operations, and Michael Lee, Vice President of Concession Administration and Casino Compliance, formally handed over the donation to the beneficiaries, including the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao, Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Service Coordination Office, Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau, Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home, and Bosco Youth Service Network.
Kobel emphasized that Sands China has supported responsible gaming initiatives for 20 consecutive years, with over 150 events organized in the last year alone to educate both team members and the public.
The company’s collaborative efforts extend to a range of initiatives including parent-child responsible gaming and financial management activities, roadshows, workshops, trainings, sharing sessions, promotional videos, quiz games, and community promotion days.
These activities are designed to enhance responsible gambling education and optimize public engagement.
Sands China has also pioneered responsible gaming practices in the region by launching a self-exclusion programme in 2004, and since 2007, it has maintained a comprehensive responsible gaming programme dedicated to addressing social issues and fostering a culture of responsible gaming
This robust support for responsible gaming not only underlines Sands China’s role in promoting industry best practices but also its commitment to building a harmonious and stable Macao society through strategic partnerships and continuous community engagement.
