The news was advanced by ESPN who reported that the English football federation and Mark Bullingham, CEO of the Football Association of England (FA), confirmed this possibility.
“Sarina is doing a brilliant job in the women’s national team. I don’t like it when they say we should have the ‘right man’ for a job, I prefer it to be the ‘right person’. Do I think Sarina could have any role in football? I think yes. I am very happy with the work she has been doing and I hope she stays with us for a long time”, he said, speaking to the Daily Express.
Sarina Wiegman, a 53-year-old Dutchwoman, would be, if this change in role at the English federation is confirmed, the first woman to coach a men’s team. It should be remembered that, currently, Gareth Southgate is the current England coach.
