Argentine star Lionel Messi was introduced this Sunday (16) to Inter Miami fans.
Under the rain, Messi spoke to the 18,000 people present at the DRV PNK stadium, in Fort Lauderdale, 50 kilometers from Miami
“I want to thank all the people of Miami for the welcome they’ve given me since I arrived here”, said the Argentine after posing with the new club’s shirt.
“I’m very anxious to start training, competing. I have the same desire I always had to win, to help the club keep growing”, added the new number 10 of Inter Miami.
The franchise’s co-owners, Jorge Mas and former England player David Beckham, welcomed Messi on a stage set up in the center of the pitch.
Beckham, visibly moved, said the star’s arrival was “a dream come true”.
“Welcome to our family,” Beckham said in Spanish.
The fans, who filled the stands despite the heavy rain that delayed the start of the party by two hours, chanted Messi’s name in the stands.
