The Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng, on Saturday called for an air link between the territory and Portugal, taking advantage of the expected reopening of direct routes between Lisbon and China.
“Now we have to assess whether it is possible to resume those routes,” to promote “cooperation with Portugal” and “attract tourists,” Ho Iat Seng told journalists in Lisbon, at a conference to end his visit to Portugal.
“There were already routes before 2019, but after the pandemic they were suspended,” Ho Iat Seng said, considering that this link between Macau and Portugal, with stopovers, would allow for more success in promoting tourism. “The work we are doing is so that more friends from Portugal can come to Macau on tourism trips,” Ho Iat Seng said.
