Samuel Tong wants Macau to invest in China’s sovereign wealth fund

The president of the Macau Institute of Management considers that part of the territory’s financial reserves should be invested through the Interior, so that risks and administrative costs are reduced

Economist Samuel Tong argues that part of Macau’s financial reserves should be integrated into China’s sovereign investment fund, to maximize investment. The idea was defended in an article published yesterday in Jornal do Cidadão.

According to the president of the Macau Institute of Management, as investments made by the territory in the financial markets are “relatively small”, the best option is to deliver the money to the sovereign wealth fund of the Interior.
