On Sunday, 39,643 visitors entered Macau, the second largest influx in the space of a year, on the first day that it was no longer mandatory to present a covid-19 test to enter the territory from Mainland China. More than half of the entries were registered at Portas do Cerco

Those who passed through the Ruins of São Paulo area and the city center on Sunday had a glimpse of Macau’s past before the covid-19 pandemic spread across the world. Crowds shuffle through the streets, entering and leaving stores, pushing suitcases and taking endless selfies on the first day that it is no longer mandatory to present a negative result in a nucleic acid test to enter Macau from China.
