Jorge Mendes tries to save business Enzo Fernández

When all the indicators pointed to the conclusion of the transfer of Enzo Fernández to Chelsea, the process took a turn that left the negotiations at an impasse, or even on the verge of collapse, such as the extreme positions between the parties. However, and according to O JOGO, the business is still alive, much at the expense of the intervention of businessman Jorge Mendes, an intermediary in this dossier, who continues in London trying to approximate positions that allow “saving” the departure of the Argentine midfielder.

Mendes had already been in a meeting during the early hours of yesterday with Chelsea officials to discuss the values to be presented in the official and written proposal to the reds, but during the day of yesterday everything changed. After all, the proposal that had been verbalized by the blues before Christmas, which promised to cover the 120 million release clause written into the world champion’s contract, arrived many millions short.

In practice, Chelsea will have retreated in their intentions and it is not surprising that, as reported by the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the English offered entry only 85 million euros, after having already shown willingness to pay 127 million, as reported. This reversal left Rui Costa indignant, but it did not affect his previous decision, which remains cemented. Benfica does not abdicate from receiving the 120 million euros, without discounts, something that just did not put an end to the process because Jorge Mendes continues in London trying to set up the deal.
