COVID-19: Macau registered 208 infection cases on Sunday

Health authorities announced that 204 cases of COVID-19 infection and 4 imported cases of COVID-19 from high-risk regions outside the Mainland of China were diagnosed in Macau on Sunday.

Out of the 204 local cases of COVID-19 infection, 97 were females and 107 males, aged from 0 to 79 years old, of which, 84 individuals showed symptoms and were classified as confirmed cases, while the remaining 120 individuals did not show symptoms yet and were therefore classified as asymptomatic infection cases.

Among the 204 cases of COVID-19 infection, 6 cases were detected in medical observation hotels and hospitals and found under control; 198 cases were detected in the community, including 61 by antigen self-testing, 130 found by mixed-sample nucleic acid testing conducted in Macau, 6 by mixed-sample nucleic acid testing conducted in Zhuhai, and 1 by close contact.

From November 28 to December 11, a total of 541 people were reported to be infected with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, four more imported cases of asymptomatic COVID-19 infections were registered on Sunday. It includes one male and three females, aged 25 to 52 years, who arrives from Hong Kong.

In a statement, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre said that the above-mentioned cases were referred for medical isolation at designated places. So far, 1,040 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,316 cases of asymptomatic infection have been recorded in Macau.
