The life of a professional footballer demands a lot of rigor also outside the four lines and rest is a fundamental factor for an athlete’s high performance. But it is not always easy to resist, especially when you are young and there are “so many distractions” around you. That’s what Manchester City forward Phil Foden talks about in an interview with Esquire magazine.
“There is a lot going on for a young footballer like me. The hardest thing is going to bed early and being ready to train the next day when there are so many distractions around. I think that’s where dedication comes in. Obviously, as we grow up we see people around us who make a lot of money playing football. I definitely felt the pressure of it. I wanted to be able to take care of my family. But my job was just to stay focused on the game. My goal was just to have fun. To play with a smile on your face”, admitted the 22-year-old winger.
