Electricity price in Portugal to rise 2.8% in regulated market

This is the increase proposed by ERSE, which will be confirmed, or not, on December 15. It will lead to a monthly increase in the order of 1 euro for a family of four. With the reduction in the network access tariffs the industry will have a reduction of about 35% in the invoice.

The lowering of the tariffs for access to the networks allows for an 80% reduction in the electricity bill for families.

The Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) is proposing a 2.8% increase in the regulated electricity tariff for next year. At stake are about 925 thousand customers, since the vast majority of families and companies in Portugal have already joined the free market.

The 2.8% increase will translate, says ERSE, an increase of 40 cents in the monthly bill of a couple without children and 1.04 euros in a family of four elements. Recall that the final tariffs in force in 2023 will only be known within two months, and in the meantime, the regulator’s tariff board will give its opinion on this proposal.
