US Elections: Amanda Knox gets involved in controversy with Piers Morgan on social media
Piers Morgan accused Amanda Knox of being insensitive about the murder of Meredith Kercher, for which Amanda was unjustly convicted after she made a joke about the US presidential election.
This week, Amanda Knox posted on Twitter a joke about the U.S. presidential race – which remains undefined – between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden. “Whatever happens, the next four years can’t be as bad as those I spent in Italy, right?”
Amanda, an American and then a college student, was unjustly convicted of the murder of her roommate, Briton Meredith Kercher, in 2007, when both were studying in Perugia, Italy. Amanda spent four years in prison before her sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court, having been released in 2011.
