The US Senate confirmed earlier this morning Amy Coney Barrett as the new judge of the United States Supreme Court, in what is a victory for Donald Trump just eight days before the presidential election.
The extremely divided chamber voted to confirm the nominee by the current White House tenant 52-48, roughly following the lines of division between representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties.
