Situation proves to be dramatic in the context of a pandemic
“I am very afraid to go back to school. My school has no soap and water. So I can’t protect myself from the disease. If there was soap and I could wash my hands, I felt happy and safe to come back. I miss my classes a lot ”. This is how the UNICEF campaign begins to alert people to the fact that 40% of schools in East Timor do not have basic hygiene conditions for their students.
30 rural schools, with about 6500 students, in the municipalities of Dili, Bobonaro and Covalima, in East Timor, need help, UNICEF says. There is no drinking water or soap, which increases the risks of the little ones, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
