The governor of Uíje and former governor of Luanda, leader of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), Luther Rescova, died today at the age of 40, victim of illness.
The news, published on the official page of the Presidency of the Republic of Angola on Facebook, reports the death of Sérgio Luther Rescova earlier this evening “due to illness”, allegedly covid-19, according to the Angolan press.
“It was with the deepest dismay that I just learned the news. I extend my most heartfelt condolences to the family, on my behalf, on behalf of my family and the entire Executive”, wrote the Angolan President, João Lourenço on the page.
In a statement read last night on TPA news, public television of Angola, the Political Bureau of MPLA Central Committee also expressed its “deep feeling of dismay” when it learned about the governor’s death.
