Derek Chauvin, 44, a former Minneapolis police officer who used his knee to choke and kill in May, former black security guard George Floyd, was released after paying $ 1 million bail.
He is the target of a murder case with intent to kill. Floyd’s murder sparked a wave of protests over the end of racism and police violence in the United States and around the world.
