Macron maintains intention to visit Angola soon

César Esteves

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, remains eager to visit Angola as soon as possible, said the ambassador of that country, Sylvain Itté, yesterday in Luanda.

Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Angola was scheduled for May, but had to be canceled due to the limitations imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking to the press, at the end of the audience with the President of the Republic, who served to present the farewell greetings, the French diplomat said that the month in which the French statesman plans to visit Angola is not yet defined.

Despite the willingness declared by the two Heads of State to meet, he added, the meeting is still dependent on a favorable picture of the Covid-19 pandemic in both countries. “It is not known what will happen in the coming months. We hope that sanitary conditions will allow President Macron’s travel to take place later this year or early next year, ”said the ambassador, for whom the normalization of the pandemic does not depend on political will.
