Benfica lost for the 3rd time in the final of the Uefa Youth League. The poor first half and lack of effectiveness dilated the final result
Third final, third defeat. Benfica again failed to win the Champions League of juniors this Tuesday, as it had happened in 2013/14 and 2015/16. The Portuguese team lost 3-2 with Real Madrid, in the game that earned the first Youth League title to the meringues.
Benfica’s poor first half put them 2-0 down at halftime. Despite the initial pressure, the reds were unable to create dangerous situations close to Luís López’s goal. Real Madrid took advantage of the mistakes of the defensive incarnate and mark by Pablo Rodríguez and in an own goal by Jocú, two moves with the signature of the left-handed Sergio Arribas.
