Russian websites reportedly spreading fake news about Covid-19 in the US

The United States Government has identified two Russian military secret service agents suspected of helping to disseminate disinformation through websites on the new coronavirus, American politics and international affairs.

US officials said today that Russian secret service agents use three pages in English to spread “news”, seeking to exploit a crisis that America is trying to contain before the November presidential elections.

Two Russians who held senior positions in the Moscow military intelligence service, known as GRU, were identified as responsible for a disinformation effort aimed at the American and Western public, US government officials told the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to speak publicly.
