Beijing is free from high-risk areas of COVID-19

Beijing on Monday reduced COVID-19’s risk level to more areas and is now free from high-risk areas for the disease in Chinese capital, according to local officials.

A municipality in Huaxiang, then a single high-risk area of the city, was reclassified to medium risk after less than 10 confirmed local cases were reported for 14 consecutive days, said Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Beijing diseases at a news conference on Monday.

After the adjustment, Beijing now has a total of seven medium-risk areas, according to Liu. The capital did not register any new confirmed cases of COVID-19 broadcast domestically on Sunday for the same consecutive day.

From June 11 to July 12, a city registered 335 cases transmitted domestically, of which 226 are still hospitalized and 109 were discharged after recovery.
