This Saturday, the president of the Catalonia region ordered the confinement of about 200,000 inhabitants around the city of Lérida, in northeastern Spain. All due to the multiplication of cases of contagion of the new coronavirus.
“We decided to confine the Segria zone [on the outskirts of Lleida] based on data that confirm a very important increase in the number of contagions of covid-19,” said Quim Torra, the independent president of the Catalan region, indicating that the confinement came into effective at 12:00 local time (11:00 in Portugal).
Entrances and exits from the affected area are restricted and gatherings with more than 10 in private and public spaces are prohibited.
