Temperature in one of the coldest cities in eastern Siberia reached 38 degrees

Thermometers in the Russian city of Verkhoyansk, in eastern Siberia, reached 38 degrees Celsius over the weekend, Russian weather sources said.

Verjoyansk, along with Oymyakon, are known as the two coldest places on the planet, where temperatures can drop to over 67 degrees below zero.

According to the authorities, the current situation in Verjoyansk, where high temperatures were recorded this weekend, is due to an “eastern anticyclone”.

The meteorological service of Yakutia, where the two “cold capitals” are located, recalled that in this part of Siberia temperatures can rise to 30 degrees in the summer, but this situation usually occurs in July, not in June.
