Amnesty International (AI) accused the authorities of maintaining the prison and in inhuman conditions 18 months ago, 16 refugees and asylum seekers, pointing out that this situation constitutes a “violation of human rights”.
The position of the non-governmental organization (NGO) in defense of human rights appears in a statement released today, when it was marked on World Refugee Day.
“The Mozambican authorities have held 16 African refugees and silos claimants in prison in inhumane conditions for 18 months, without them having committed any crime,” says the AI statement.
