Brazilian Butantan Institute tests vaccine in partnership with Chinese laboratory

The government of the Brazilian state of São Paulo announced this Friday that the Butantan Institute has reached an agreement with the Chinese laboratory Sinovac Biotech to produce an experimental vaccine against the new coronavirus.
About 9,000 Brazilians will participate in the tests, starting in July, representing the third and final stage before distribution. If the vaccine proves to be effective, it will be produced in Brazil.
The governor of São Paulo, João Doria, said in a press conference that the vaccine may be available in the first half of 2021.
